Abstract
1478381 Luminescent screens HITACHI Ltd 14 June 1974 [25 July 1973] 26519/74 Heading H1D [Also in Division G2] Screen patterns for colour TV tubes are produced by (a) coating a photoresist layer of a water-soluble bisazide and a water-soluble acrylamide/diacetone acrylamide copolymer on the inner surface of a face plate, (b) imagewise exposing to light of only sufficient intensity and and in the presence of oxygen so that only the central exposed areas are cross-linked, (c) developing to remove all uncrosslinked area and leave dots smaller than the exposed areas, (d) coating the developed material with an opaque substance, (e) chemically removing the resist and the overlying opaque layer and (f) filling the bared areas with the desired phosphors. The opaque substance is generally carbon and the chemical removal normally carried out with an oxidant. Conditions are such that under the light exposure Schwartz child's constant p<0,76. The above process eliminates bridging between the phosphor dots and the need for a post-etching step or the use of a circular light source. Alternatively, the photoresist layer may contain the relevant phosphors so that after exposure and development, the bared areas may be filled in with an opaque substance to produce the desired screen pattern. Dot and mask dimensions are given. Screen patterns made with a material containing the copolymer specified above mixed with a vinyl pyrrolidone copolymer are disclosed in Specification 1,425,713.
