Abstract

1477852 Liquid delivery apparatus FORECOURT AUTOMATION Ltd 9 May 1975 [9 May 1974] 20610/74 Heading G4V A liquid dispensing control apparatus comprises switching means operable to establish a credit of a predetermined monetary value, a pulse generator arranged to be enabled in response to operation of said switching means to generate a pulse train, a store counter arranged to be advanced by pulses of said pulse train, a pricing unit arranged to compare the number of pulses in said pulse train with preset pricing signals representative of the volume of liquid to be dispensed for the minimum value of credit which can be established and which is arranged to deliver an output pulse in response to every receipt of the number of pulses which represents said volume of liquid, a counter responsive to the application thereto of a number of said pricing unit output pulses corresponding to the established credit to inhibit said pulse generator, said store counter yielding a supply-enabling signal when the number entered thereon exceeds zero by a predetermined amount and means responsive to received pulses representative of the volume of liquid dispensed for decreasing the number entered in said store counter. Windows 8 and 9 display the volume of liquid that has been paid for and the volume of liquid that has been delivered through nozzle 3 respectively. A liquid supply 11 is connected by pipe 10 to casing 1. Liquid supply is controlled by an electrically actuated valve 12; or a pump. From the valve liquid passes to flow meter 13 which delivers signals on channel 14. A currency receiving unit 15 controls a pricing unit 16 where signals representative of the value of inserted coins are processed with signals from preset switches 17 to develop further signals representative of the volume which has been paid for. These signals are fed into store 18 giving a count representing the number of units to be delivered. The store counter supplies a signal on channel 20 to open valve 12. Meter 13 supplies pulses which reduce the number stored in store 18. Credit display 19 is reduced and display 21 advanced. When the store reaches zero valve 12 is closed. Preferably the supply enabling signal is developed only when the number entered in the store counter is not less than a predetermined minimum but to be maintained until said number is returned to zero. A flow-reducing signal may be produced when the number entered in the counter falls below a predetermined number. Credit is limited to the store counter capacity. There may be a supply inhibiting signal at the end of a predetermined time interval after the establishment of credit.
