Abstract

1477553 Continuous casting LOUIS JÍRG GmbH 28 Aug 1975 [28 Aug 1974] 35606/75 Heading B3F A continuous casting mould has a number of through-cavities 10 interconnected by smaller through-cavities 11 so that rods or bars cast therein are joined by webs and (as a safeguard against their breakage during withdrawal) the two outermost rods or bars (although the drawing does not indicate it) have a larger cross-section than the others so that the rods or bars cast therein are correspondingly larger. The cavities 10 may converge in the direction of casting (which is vertical). The mould may be formed in two halves 1, 2 pressed together, with copper cooling plates 3 4, by screws 9 in at least one frame 8. Coolant is passed through the plates 3, 4. To finish the withdrawn rods, the webs are removed by sawing.
