Abstract

1476757 Stamping THEODOR GRABENER MASCHINENFABRIK 12 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 39863/74 Heading B3Q Coining press comprises means for feeding blanks to, and removing coins from, a ring die via a table, a male coining die and an ejector/die with upward and downward working strokes respectively and a drive to the male coining die which includes a transmission element the down stroke of which aligns the coining surface of the die with the upper surface of the table, the feed and removing means being arranged to operate only when the die surface is so aligned. As shown a toggle drive 5 acts on a male coining die 24 via a transmission assembly 20, Fig. 4. When the press is at rest there is a gap 16b between upper members 17-19 of the assembly, which rest on a damping ring 21b in a recess 21a of the press frame, and a lower push rod 16. A pneumatic device 45 acts via a lever 42 and rod 40 on the ejector/die 28. The die 28 is mounted on a holder 30 providing fine angular adjustment of the die. The upward stroke of the holder is limited by a strop 32 adjustably mounted on a fixed yoke 33 by a worm (34), Fig. 2 (not shown). The downward stroke is limited by an adjustable screw 46. A fixed ring die 25 is mounted above the press table 22 at a height slightly greater than the thickness of a coin blank. Blanks are delivered to one of a multiplicity of recesses (52), Fig. 3 (not shown), of a rotary table 51 from a stack 54. In operation, the first position of the upward, coining stroke of the toggle 5 closes the gap 16b. Then the die 24 is raised, lifting the blank and the ejector/die against the pressure of the device 45 until the holder 30 abuts the stop 32 when coining takes place. The push rod 16 is immediately lowered, thus lowering the die 24 until the plate 17a abuts the damping ring 21b at which point the upper face of the die 24 is fluah with the top of the table 22. The ejector/ die follows, disengaging the coined blank from the ring die and returning it to rest on the male die in its recess in the table 51. A discharge shoot (not shown) is located at one indexing position of a recess 52.
