Abstract

1476628 Tube squeezing device D W PARRY 21 June 1974 [17 July 1973] 34070/73 Heading B8D A tube-squeezing device 20 comprises a tubular body portion 25 having a pair of jaws 26 spring-biased towards each other to flatten the walls of a flexible tube, a pair of lever arms 29 having upper portions connected to the jaws, intermediate portions 29<SP>11</SP> for bearing on the body portion and lower portions 29<SP>1</SP> adapted to be pressed towards one another to move the jaws apart, and a tube turn-key 33. Pressing of the lower portions of the lever arms together causes separation of the jaws,- and facilitates insertion and removal of the key with the wound tube into and out of the body portion 25. As shown, the body portion and arms are formed in one piece from spring steel and the arms are connected to the jaws by divergent tube-guiding portions 28. The body portion acts as a C- shaped spring to urge the jaws 26 together. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the spring biasing of the jaws may be provided or supplemented by a spring clip 43. In another embodiment, Figs. 6-9 (not shown), the lever arms are hinged to the jaws and may be upwardly-pivoted and pressed towards each other to compress the tube. The turn-key is provided with a removable tube-retaining disc 40, Fig. 3 (not shown). The device 20 may be moulded in plastics.
