Abstract

The tubular sections are joined together by means of a connecting piece. The connecting piece has a central portion which has the same outside diameter as the outside diameter of the tube. The ends of the connecting piece fit inside the tube. A segment piece (42) is cut away from each end of the connecting piece. The segment is tapped to take a grub screw (16). The connecting piece is locked into position by tightening the grub screw. This forces the segment outwards to press against the inside of the tube. A second grub screw may be placed at the other end to adjust the position of the free end.
