Abstract

1476061 Stands; brackets C N UNWIN Ltd 6 Jan 1976 [8 Jan 1975] 733/75 Headings A4B and A4H [Also in Division E2] A support for medical equipment, such as a plasma bottle 15, comprises first and second elongate members 6, 7 secured together at an adjustable combined length, member 7 having means for carrying the equipment, and member 6 having clamping means 16, 17 adapted to engage between two spaced rails 3, 4 &c. of a trolley or stretcher, the clamping means comprising an upper fixed jaw 16, 18 and a lower jaw 17, 19 adjustable along member 6 away from jaw 16, 18 to effect clamping. Lower jaw 17, 19 includes a pivoted pawl 20 spring-urged to engage ratchet teeth 21 on member 6, and a pivoted lever 22 that can be raised to engage the pawl to disengage it from teeth 21, Fig. 2(a). To clamp the jaw 17, 19 tightly against rail 4, the lever 22 is released and is pushed by the pawl 20 to the inclined dotted line position, Fig. 2(b). Lever 22 has teeth 24 which engage the teeth 21, and on moving lever 22 down to the horizontal position, Fig. 2(b), the jaw 17, 19 is pulled down member 6 with pawl 20 'clicking' past further teeth 21. If the clamping is not sufficiently tight, lever 22 is raised to the dotted line position and the action repeated. During such raising, teeth 24, 21 become disengaged since the lever 22 is pivotably mounted by an angled slot 25. Members 6, 7 are telescopic square section tubes, and the plasma bottle 15 is carried by a hook 10 and cradle 11 comprising a half ring 13 and an adjustable strap 14 having a snap fastening.
