Abstract

1475773 Temporarily strong articles in a conveyer system SKODA OBOROVY PODNIK 6 June 1974 [6 June 1973] 25261/74 Heading B8A A row of articles 2 on a conveyer 5 leading from a packing machine are normally pushed (by a pusher 13 operated by cams 6, 18) into a row 7 of compartments of a vertical endless conveyer 47, and each article is then grasped by respective jaws 25, 26 of a movable holder 24 which then draws all the articles of the row 7 on to a conveyer 39 leading to a wrapping machine. If the latter machine is not operative, a sensor 78 on the conveyer 39 initiates a pulse to a stepping mechanism comprising a ratchet 53 and pawl 63. This causes each row of articles to be lifted step-by-step on the conveyer 47 instead of being drawn on to the conveyer 39. When the wrapping machine recommences, and/or when the packing machine is inoperative, the conveyer 47 is stepped in the downwards direction, and rows of articles 2 are successively drawn out on to the conveyer 39. The various operations are controlled by proximity switches. A switch (76) (Fig. 5, not shown) switches off the packing machine when the number of rows of the conveyer 47 filled with articles 2, reaches a predetermined number. A feeder mechanism (67) checks the presence of articles in the rows of compartments, at the time of their feed-in or withdrawal.
