Abstract
1475763 Vehicle washing apparatus MBB FAHRZEUGWASCHANLAGEN GmbH 18 Nov 1974 [30 Nov 1973] 49814/74 Heading B7J A vehicle washing apparatus comprises a movable gantry supporting a roof brush 4 and side brushes 10, the gantry consisting of two uprights 1 having guides 5 in which the roof brush runs, a transverse beam 2 having a guide 11 in which the side brushes run, and longitudinal beams 3 interconnecting the transverse beam and uprights. In its uppermost position, the roof brush extends above the gantry without interference from the transverse beam. The roof brush is mounted on a hollow shaft 25 rotatably mounted on a central shaft 21 and rotated by a motor 20. The shaft 21 carries pinions 8, 81 driven by a motor 22 and engaging. racks 6 in the upright guides 5 for raising and lowering the roof brush. Guide rollers 9, 9<SP>1</SP> are also provided. Similarly, the side brushes are rotated by motors 16 and moved towards and away from each other by motor-driven pinions 14 engaging a rack 13 in the transverse guide 11. The side brushes are carried by pivoted two-armed levers 18, 18<SP>1</SP> at each end.
