Abstract

1475094 Delivering sheets XEROX CORP 14 Nov 1974 [7 Dec 1973] 49392/74 Heading B8R A sheet inverter comprises rollers 101, 103, Figs. 3 and 4, forming a nip N into which sheets S are fed, the roller 101 being driven continuously by a belt 110. If the sheet is to be inverted, a clutch 115 is energized and a belt 120 is driven so as to rotate a frame carrying the rollers 101, 103 through 180 degrees about the axis of the nip N. The clutch may be energized when a sheet is detected by a photoelectric detector 111, the signal at the same time energizing a solenoid to move a latch 121 out of the path of the frame. The inverted may be used to handle sheets delivered from a xerographic copying machine to a sorter, the signal activating the inverter when the machine is being used to produce simplex copies, but not when it is being used to produce duplex copies.
