The electrostatic latent image is formed on the drum surface moved from the exposure station to the development station G. The development station primarily comprises a development housing 22 which is designed such that therein a supply of two-component development material 21 may be included. The developer material is applied by means of a scoop 23 from the bottom of the developer housing brought an elevated point from where the material is fed to the active development zone. The developer material is caused to flow down into contact with the upward moving drum surface, namely under closely controlled conditions, the charged toner particles from the developer mixture into the image areas ~ on the plate- surface are attracted so that the image becomes visible.
Although an excess of toner material from the toramel surface during the transfer process onto the copy sheet is brought, a certain amount of toner remains after the transfer on the drum surface, This remaining toner material is brought to a cleaning station E on the drum surface, where it is under the influence a cleaning corotron 30 arrives, which is designed in this way is that the electrostatic charge is neutralized, v; which tends to retain the residual toner to keep the drum surface. The neutralized toner material is mechanically applied by means of a brush or a similar device removed from the drum surface, and the toner powder is collected in a case 31. After leaving the burn-in station, the fixed copy sheet becomes passed through a curved sheet guide system, which is designated in its entirety with 39, namely into cooperating transport rollers 43 and 44 «. At this point, depending on the selected operating mode the copy sheet is either fed directly to the sorting device or placed in an upper storage compartment 52, by means of a movable sheet guide device 45 'before the sheet enters the sheet handling device 8 got in. For simplex copying or simple copying the copier sheet is brought directly into the sheet handling device 8 to turn the sheet over before it is put into one the compartments of the sorting device 6 or a similar device is introduced. A typical sorting facility is described in U.S. Patent Application 319,957, which was filed December 29, 1972.

Ii 1 Ur a simplex mode, or a simple operation trigger signals from a sheet sensor such as a lamp and a photocell pair III, the sheet handling apparatus 8 so that the sheets S prior to further transport to der'Sortiereinrichtung 6 are reversed. Corresponding signals are used to energize a clutch 115 which engages a belt 120 which rotates the frame carrying the rollers 101 and 103 at the same speed and in the same direction as the rollers rotate. At the same time, signals which are fed to the electromagnetically actuated lock 121 are used to release the frame, as a result of which the rollers 101 and 10 can rotate about an axis through the gap N. There is no visible movement of the rollers. The lock 121 comes back into engagement with the frame, and the clutch 115 is disengaged after 180 of the frame carrying the rollers. It can be seen that during the rotation the sheet S is not conveyed on, but is wrapped around the rollers. As a result, the trailing edge of the sheet S becomes the leading edge and the upper side becomes the lower side of the sheet, thereby turning the sheet over. The sheet is then fed through feed rollers 130 and 132 which direct it to sorter 6. A similar operation takes place on the second sheet, with the frame rotating an additional 180 degrees. This process is continued with a full rotation of 360 ° for every two sheets.
