Abstract

1474729 Brackets; shower fittings GROHE HANDELS GmbH 22 Aug 1974 [23 Aug 1973] 36940/74 Headings A4B and A4N [Also in Division E2] A wall mounted support for a hand shower comprises a slider with pivot mounting 14 for the shower, the slider being mounted on a vertical rod 3 or 21 and including means for clamping it with all-round or distributing clamping contact at any selected position along the length of the rod 3 or 21, the rod being supported at its ends by an angle bracket 1 with one limb 2 engaged in the end of the rod and the other limb 4 having a bore 6 through which a wall fixing screw 5 is passed, a cover plate 9 being provided to close the open, outer end of the bore G. In one embodiment of slider, Fig. 4, two split bushes 15 are disposed in the ends of a bore 16 in the slider 13, the bushes 15 being urged apart by a spring 18 into engagement with tapered ends of the bore 16 whereby the bushes 15 are pressed into locking engagement with the rod 3. To adjust the position of the slider the bushes 15 are pressed towards each other against the bias of the spring 18 whereby their frictional locking engagement with the rod 3. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, the slider includes a sleeve 22 mounted on a square section rod 21, one inner side of the sleeve 22 receiving part of a pair of clamping members 26 urged apart by a spring 24 and operating in a manner similar to that of the Fig. 4 embodiment. In a further embodiment, Fig. 8 the slider 27 includes two mutually inclined bores 29, 28 which are laterally inter-connected by a slot. One bore 29 receives the rod 3 as a tight fit and the other bore 28 receives the rod 3 as a sliding fit. To adjust the position of the slider along the length of the rod 3 the slider is tilted to engage the rod 3 in the larger bore 28. In a further embodiment, Fig. 10, a sleeve 31 of the slider has a lower end formed with parallel, axially extending slots, this lower end having an external thread 34 engaged by a nut 32, the lower ends of the sleeve and nut having co-operating chamfered portions which interengage when the nut is tightened to press the segments between the slots in to engagement with the rod 3.
