Abstract
1474548 Electro-plating Rh-Ru alloy OXY METAL INDUSTRIES CORP 20 June 1974 [21 June 1973] 27435/74 Heading C7B Rh-Ru alloy containing e.g. 90% or more of Rh is electro-plated from a Pt-free bath containing Rh and Ru in a ratio by wt. from 5:1 to 1500:1. An acid bath may be used, > 10 g/l sulphonic acid, containing buffers, complexants and conducting substances, e.g. H 2 SO 4 . The Rh source may be sulphate, suphamate or phosphate and the Ru source sulphate, trichloride, hydrochloroperrutheneous acid or an alkali metal Á-nitrido-bis- (tetrachloroaquaruthenate (IV)) e.g. K 3 N(RuCl 4 .H 2 O) 2 . A substrate of brass, bronze, Cu, Ag, mild steel or Ni (alloy) may be flashed with Ag, Au, Pd or Pd-Au before plating.
