Abstract

1474149 Mass spectrometers FIZIKOTEKH INST IM AF IOFFE AKAD NAUK SSSR 4 July 1975 28388/75 Heading H1D A time-of-flight mass spectrometer comprises a pulsed ion source consisting of at least two electrodes 5, 6 (in Fig. 5 with additional electrodes 11, 13) all of which have regions which transmit the ions under investigation, an ion reflecting system comprising electrodes 10, 12, 16 and an ion detector 7, the source, reflecting system and detector being coaxial. Electrodes 8, 11, 13, 16 are earthed to provide drift spaces 14, 15. Material is ionized by an electron stream from a cathode 17. Figs. 1 to 3 (not shown) illustrate devices in which some of the electrodes of Fig. 5 are omitted.
