Abstract
1473788 Joining monorail beams R C PURDY 4 July 1975 28201/75 Addition to 1360786 Heading B7L A monorail beam adapted to be detachably, pivotally connected end-to-end with similar beams comprises back-to-back angle members with a cavity therebetween and oppositely protruding flanges constituting track surfaces, the beam having a transverse pivot (not shown) extending horizontally across the cavity at one end and, at its other end, a hook member 18 protruding from the cavity to hook over the pivot of a succeeding beam and a protrusion 17 extending from and aligned with the cavity for extending into the cavity of the succeeding beam. The protrusion 17, which has curved upper and lower surfaces having a common centre of curvature coincident with the axis of pivotal movement, engages in use against a load-bearing abutment member provided at the end of the succeeding beam having its pivot.
