Abstract

1473643 Vented closure METAL BOX Ltd 14 June 1974 [22 June 1973] 29755/73 Heading B8T A can closure comprises a metal or plastics lid having an end wall 13 with a vent 15 at its centre, the central portion of the lid having a depression 14 which receives a plastisol plug 16 through which pass one or more passages 18 communicating with vent 15 and serving to equalize the pressure within the can with that of its surroundings and providing a liquid tight seal. The number of vents and plugs may be increased and may be in different parts of the lid; in addition, the plug 16 may be secured to either side of end wall 13.
