Abstract

1472956 Letter plates B LILLY & SONS Ltd 17 Sept 1975 [19 Sept 1974] 40806/74 Heading A4T A letter plate comprises a body part 11 arranged to be fixed e.g. to the face of a door, a closure flap 14 and a separate front cover 15 for frictionally engaging the body part 11. The body part 11 is preferably of moulded plastics material with holes 18-20 for receiving fastening screws, coach bolts or a bell-push, and the cover 15 comprises a metal plate with flanges 40-43 for engaging the body part 11. The flap 14 is of extruded metal, with a lower portion 33 for engaging a flange 24 of the body part 11 and supported by pivot pins (27), Fig. 2 (not shown). A torsion spring may be provided to hold the flap 14 shut. Alternatively, Fig. 13 (not shown) the flanges 42, 43 may enter slots (52), (53) in the face of the body part 11.
