Abstract

147,264. Pearson, G. C., and Johnson & Phillips. April 9, 1919. Cables and compound conductors.-In telephone cables having two-pair cores, the lengths of the twists in adjacent parts of each pair differ. but the total number of twists in the two pairs is the same; the centre portions of the short and long twists of the two pairs are arranged opposite and the two pairs laid together so that the section at any point, preferably the commencement, is that shown by Fig. 6. The elements of each pair may have alternately a long and a short twist, Fig. 3, or a series of long twists alternating with a series of short twists, Fig. 5. The actual lengths of twists in adjacent pairs are preferably different.
