Abstract

1472280 Mechanical switches MABUCHI MOTOR KK 23 April 1974 17773/74 Heading H1N [Also in Division A6] An electric switch 4, Fig. 1, is arranged to be closed by the reaction torque of a battery driven electric motor 1 mounted on a pivotal support 1b whereby when the torque drops below a predetermined value the power circuit is cut off to protect the batteries. The switch is particularly intended for use in protecting rapidly rechargeable Ni-Cd batteries used in model planes, ships and automobiles. The switch body 4 of insulating material is mounted on a motor support bracket 2 and has an actuator 5 engaged by a projection 3 on the motor housing. A spring 8 Fig. 3, urges the contact 5a on the end of the actuator 5 away from the fixed contact 6a on an adjustable threaded support rod 6 mounted in a conductive end cap 4a. In operation the torque of the motor 1 maintains the contacts 5a, 5b in engagement until the power falls off thereby preventing the possibility of one cell being reverse charged. Examples are shown of the toy motor applied in a model aeroplane Fig. 5 (not shown) and a model ship Fig. 7 (not shown).
