A sequence SWITCH ON, C1, P, C2, N, C3, M OFF may be transmitted. C1, C2, C3, are periods of carrier only the lengths of which may indicate whether the main or stand-by transmitter is operating, and the system angular resolution per "bleep", P, indicates the station time sharing sequence position, N is the sequence of bleeps by which the bearing may be determined, and M the morse code. The audio frequency may be used to denote the bearing direction of the station centre line. Electronic decoding apparatus may be used to decode this transmitted information.
