Abstract
1471599 Smelting ferrous briquettes KLOCKNER-WERKE AG 2 May 1974 [23 May 1973] 19373/74 Heading C7D A ferrous material, e.g. swarf, clippings, scrap, sponge iron or pellets, is mixed with up to 5% fine coal or C compound and briquetted, the briquettes being smelted from below in a shaft furnace by means of a flame from underneath. The briquettes may additionally be impregnated with oil or liquid hydrocarbons, and may be coated with a protectant, e.g. water glass, lime solution, silicate, or chromate.
