Abstract

1471164 Solid state photo-electric read-out device OLYMPUS KOGAKU KOGYO KK 21 Oct 1974 [22 Oct 1973] 45486/74 Heading G1A [Also in Division H4] A solid state read-out device comprises light conducting fibres 11 with their light receiving ends side by side in a straight line, with light-emitting ends each of which extends through a fibresupporting member 14 sealing an opaque container 16 containing, close to the emitting ends, photoelectric chips 15 with lead wires 20. The lightemitting ends extending through opaque covers 14 may be divided into groups of short straight lines alternately arranged in two rows. Light from source 19 passes through support 13, made of transparent material such as glass. Support 12 may be of such material or opaque. A signal is delivered from wires 20 to apparatus reproducing printed matter 18. If matter'18 is transparent, source 19 may be on the other side of it. Preferably the areas of the light-emitting end of each fibre and the lightaccepting surface of each photo-electric picture element are equal, but there may be a plurality of fibres per element or vice-versa.
