Abstract

1471007 Production of heterocyclic compounds SNAMPROGETTI SpA 12 July 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 31084/74 Heading C2C Compounds of general formula where X is O or S; Y is N or S; n = 0, 1, 2 or 3; m is the valency of Y; and each of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>, R<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>5</SP>, which can be the same or different is H, an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbyl radical, or a heterocyclic radical, the hydrocarbyl or heterocyclic radical optionally containing at least one functional group, are prepared by reacting a compound of general formula with carbon monoxide and oxygen in the presence of a catalyst, the nature of which is such that, under the reaction conditions, the activation energy necessary for the compound of Formula II to react with CO and O 2 can be supplied via the catalyst. Suitable catalysts are selenium or compounds thereof, or insoluble copper complexes.
