Abstract

1451695 Polyphenylene ethers MITSUBISHI GAS CHEMICAL CO Inc 30 Oct 1974 [2 Nov 1973] 47020/74 Heading C3R In a process for producing polyphenylene ethers by reacting a phenol with elemental oxygen in the presence of a catalyst, there is used a solvent in an amount from 1 to 6 times the weight of the phenol and the phenol is added gradually or intermittently to the reaction medium as the reaction proceeds. Examples are given.
