Abstract
1470854 Manufacture of MgO VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE - ACTIEN - GES 31 May 1974 [1 June 1973] 24232/74 Heading ClA Magnesium oxide is manufactured by spraying an aqueous suspension of magnesium hydroxide, as droplets in the form of a spray mist, into a stationary reaction furnace maintained at 350 C. at least, to dehydrate and decompose the hydroxide to the oxide. For manufacture of active MgO with a specific surface of at least 100 m.<SP>2</SP>/g. the reaction zone temperature should be in the range 400-700 C. and for a specific area of less than 100 m.<SP>2</SP>/g. a temperature of above 700 C. should be maintained.
