Abstract
1470799 Automatic voltage regulation INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 11 April 1974 [11 April 1973] 16216/74 Headings G3R and G3X A regulating arrangement for a pulse width modulation power supply includes a non-linear circuit providing a switching signal with a markspace ratio proportional to the quotient of signals representing the supply output and the input voltage. - As shown in Fig. 6, a D.C.-D.C. converter includes switching transistors Q3, Q4 controlled in a pulse width modulation mode by a known error amplifier circuit ÁA723 receiving a feedback signal Y from a voltage divider 21 connected to the converter output E o . The circuit operates to regulate the output voltage, and the control signals fed to transistors Q3, Q4 are modified to compensate for variations in supply voltage E i . To achieve this, a sawtooth voltage is fed to terminal 3 of the amplifier circuit ÁA723, the amplitude of the sawtooth signal being proportional to a voltage X representing the supply voltage. The frequency of the sawtooth signal is determined by clockpulses H switching field-effect transistors 16, 17 which periodically discharge a capacitor 11. The operation of the circuit is such that the markspace ratio of the switching transistors is proportional to the ratio of the voltages Y and X.
