Abstract
1470433 Adapters for controlling tape recorders OLYMPUS KOGAKU KOGYO KK 10 April 1974 [10 April 1973] 16054/74 Heading G5R An adapter, Fig. 1, has a casing 2 with a recess 2<SP>1</SP> detachably receiving a magnetic tape speech recorder 1, and a mechanically operated review mode selector 6 of recorder 1 is operable by a review solenoid 38, Fig. 3, of the adapter, solenoid 38 being energized by selectively either one of two switches 36, one switch 36 being manually operable by a control 14, Fig. 1, on casing 2 and the other switch 36 being operable by a foot-operated control 21 on a foot control unit 19, the adapter also having a mains switch 31, Fig. 1, for switching electrical power off and on to the adapter and two play mode selection switches 35, each operable to connect recorder 1 and switches 36 to switch 31, a manual control 13 on casing 2 operating one switch 35 and a foot control 20 on unit 19 operating the other switch 35. Movement of a slide button 7, Fig. 1, on casing 2 closes the mains switch 31, Fig. 3, therein and operates a play button 5 of recorder 1. Subsequent operation of the play control 13 or of play pedal 20 closes the corresponding switch 35 to supply power over jack 11 to the recorder which thereby assumes the normal playback mode. Operation of buttons 13 and 14, or of pedal 21 (causing pedal 20 to also operate), closes corresponding switches 35, 36 to energize solenoid 38 whereby a button 6, Fig. 1, on recorder 1 is pushed in (arrow A) to produce the review mode. Operation of buttons 13 and 15, or of pedal 22 (causing pedal 20 to also operate), closes corresponding switches 35 and 37 to energize solenoid 39 whereby button 6 is slid in the direction of arrow B, Fig. 1, to produce a cue mode. Playback is to a loudspeaker 4 unless a slide button 8 is moved rightwards in Fig. 1, thereby engaging a plug 105 in socket 104, Fig. 3, to disconnect loudspeaker 4 from, and connect earphones 9 to, playback amplifier 102. Relays 109, 110 are energized in the review and cue modes respectively to attenuate the output to earphones 9 by means of variable resistors 106, or 107 or alternatively by means of high frequency-cut filters.
