Abstract

1470060 Protein food BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 16 Sept 1974 {18 Sept 1973] 43650/73 Heading A2B An extrudable composition comprising a single cell microorganism and maize is mixed with water, simultaneously heated and subjected to a shearing force and extruded. The composition preferably comprises 80-20% by wt. of maize and 20-80% by wt. of the microorganism particularly a yeast of the genus Candida. Also 1-20% of another protein source such as casein or vital wheat gluten may be present.
