Abstract

1469775 Fastener package BULTENKANTHAL AB 5 March 1974 [9 March 1973] 9779/74 Heading B8C A fastener package usable in manual or, particularly, automatic fastener tightening apparatus, includes a plastics or cardboard carrier strip 14 provided with spaced apertures 15 slightly undersized with respect to the fasteners 10 to be received by the apertures. In use the fasteners stress the regions of the strip around the fasteners downwardly to form lips which frictionally engage the shanks 13 of the fasteners to secure the fasteners in position. Formation of the lip is facilitated by slots 16, the longitudinal ones of which may be so closely spaced as to allow the strip to be torn into two halves during removal of the fastener (see Fig. 4). In an alternative embodiment a longitudinally splittable strip is formed from a strip of longitudinally oriented plastics material, in which case the longitudinal slots may even be dispensed with. The fastener carrying strip may be coiled for storage purposes.
