Abstract

1469613 Measuring temperatures electrically SPRECHER & SCHUH AG 12 June 1975 [9 July 1974] 25183/75 Heading G1N The temperature of an electrical apparatus carrying a current IM is determined by feeding a current i proportional to 1<SP>2</SP> M to an RC network forming a thermal image for the copper losses of the apparatus, and supplementing this temperature signal with one devised by direct measurement of the temperature rise in the iron parts of the apparatus. As shown, the current I M taken by a motor M is measured by transformer 12 and rectified and squared to form the current i which is fed to an R 1 , C 1 combination whose time constant is equal to that of the copper loss temperature rise in motor M. The temperature of the iron parts is measured by a resistor 3 in a bridge network 4, whose output voltage is amplified at 9 and added via resistor R 1 to that across capacitor C 1 . The resultant voltage across C 1 is compared at 18 with a limiting value, to operate a cut-out for the motor supply when this limiting value is reached.
