Abstract

1468645 Chlorothiazoles BAYER AG 24 Oct 1975 [12 Dec 1974] 43760/75 Heading C2C Chlorothiazoles of formula are prepared by reacting N-(1,2,2,2-tetrachloroethyl) -imideoyl chlorides of the general formula wherein when n = 1, R represents CCl 3 , CF 3 , CN, CCl = CCl 2 , CCl 2 -CN, CCl 2 C 6 H 5 , an aromatic-carbocyclic radical or an aromaticheterocyclic radical, or when n = 2, R represents a divalent aromatic-carbocyclic radical or an aromatic-heterocyclic radical, with sulphur at an elevated temperature by 150-300‹ C. Compounds of the formula wherein R 1 is 2-trifluoromethylphenyl, 3-trifluoromethylphenyl, 3,4-dichlorophenyl, pentachlorophenyl, benzoxazolyl-(2), benzthiazolyl- (2), 5,7 - bis - (trifluoromethyl) - benzthiazolyl- (2), 3,4 - dichloroisothiazolyl - (5), 4 - [4,5 - dichlorothiazolyl - (2)] - phenyl, 1 - naphthyl or trifluoromethyl are claimed per se. Examples also prepare compounds in which R 1 = CCl 3 and phenyl and also 1,4-phenylene-bis-(4,5-dichloro- 2-thiazole). Numerous other values are given for R. Compounds of Formula I in which n = 1 and R has the values given above for R 1 and in which n = 2 and R = 1,4-phenylene are prepared by the action of PCl 5 on compounds of formula which are prepared from amides R(CONH 2 ) n and chloral. The novel chlorothiazoles are used as acaricides.
