Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound in high yield, by reacting a specific sulfonic acid with an N-halogenocarboxylic acid imide, reacting the resulting compound with a substituted benzoic acid in the presence of a tertiary amine, followed by reacting the prepared compound with an N-alkyl-2-aminomethylpyrrolidine.
CONSTITUTION: A sulfinic acid shown by the formula I (Y is H, lower alkyl, or halogen) is reacted with an N-halogenocarboxylic acid imide to give the resulting product, which is reacted with a substituted benzoic acid amide in the presence of a tertiary amine. The prepared reaction product is reacted with an N-alkyl-2- aminomethylpyrrolidine in the presence of the tertiary amine to give the desired compound shown by the formula II (R1 and R3 are lower alkyl; R2 is H, halogen, sulfamoyl, etc.). The reaction is preferably carried out in the same reactor in a proper solvent at room temperature without taking out the intermediate.
USE: Having ulcer-preventive actions, antinauceant actions, and psychotherapeutic actions, the compound is used clinically as a common name of sulpiride.
