Abstract

1468396 Steam sterilizers SYBRON CORP 25 March 1974 [2 April 1973] 13105/74 Heading A5G The upper portion of the interior surface of the walls of a sterilizing chamber in a sterilizer (of the type in which steam is produced from a limited amount of water in the sterilizing chamber), i.e. the portion over the load is constructed so as to cool more slowly than the remainder of the interior surface of the chamber walls during cool-down after sterilization so that droplets of water do not form thereon during the cool-down phase of a sterilization cycle. This may be accomplished by giving the upper part of the chamber improved insulation compared with the remainder and providing a fan to direct air over the outside surfaces. In addition, the upper interior surfaces of the chamber may be roughened, e.g. by sandblasting, to render the formation of water droplets thereon less easy.
