Abstract

1468255 Toothed gearing W THOMAS & CO (WA) PTY Ltd 6 June 1975 [11 June 1974] 25828/74 Heading F2Q [Also in Division A4] An adjustable hospital bed (see Division A4) is provided with a gear-box comprising a drive shaft 25 rotatably mounted in a casing and provided with a bevel gear 30 and a pair of driven shafts 29 projecting from the casing and each provided with a bevel gear 31. Each bevel gear 31 is slidably mounted on its respective shaft and is movable into engagement with the gear 30 against spring loading by a cam 32 rotatably mounted on the respective shaft and connected to an operating lever 27 by arms 34, 35. The operating lever 27 has one end position in which one of the cams contacts its respective gear and pushes it into engagement with the gear on the drive shaft, an intermediate position in which both cams contact their respective gears and a second end position in which the other of the cams contacts its respective gear.
