1468164 Surface treatment of rubber RUBBER & PLASTICS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION OF GREAT BRITAIN 21 May 1974 [22 May 1973] 24366/73 Heading C3E Tack in rubbers is reduced by applying a water-soluble dusting agent as a powder to the surface of unvulcanized rubber, the dusting agent having a particle size smaller than 0À2 millimetres and being sodium bicarbonate, or another water-soluble inorganic salt having a solubility in water at least equal to that of sodium bicarbonate. The agent may be applied to, e.g. a rubber extrudate before the rubber is vulcanized in a fluidized bed, the agent subsequently being wasted from the vulcanized rubber with water-sodium carbonate and sodium chloride containing a small amount of magnesium carbonate are other agents specified.
