Abstract

1467203 Valves GEORG ROST & SOHNE 9 April 1975 14578/75 Heading F2V [Also in Divisions E1 and G3] A device 5 providing a helical flow path for water entering a cistern is arranged upstream of a diaphragm valve 3 to reduce noise and act as a filter, the inlet and outlet ducts 14, 18 of the device being arranged tangentially to the turns of the helix. The valve 3 is controlled by a pilot valve 122 mounted on a lever 12 operated by a float 9 on a slidable tube 8 coupled to the lever by an arm 11. Once the valve 3 has been opened by downward movement of the float water flows down a pipe 7 into the cistern and through a hole 74 into a bowl 10 discharged into an annular trough 91 in the float so that the valve is opened more rapidly. The float is made from closed cell foamed materal. Vanes 33 guide the diaphragm valve in its movements towards and away from its seat 19 while a nozzle 34 allows water from the inlet to enter the space behind the diaphragm which is thus held closed so long as the pilot valve is closed.
