Abstract
1434411 Valves SOS CONSOLIDATED Inc 27 April 1973 20175/73 Heading F2V [Also in Division B1] A valve-filter assembly for connecting into a pipe-line comprises a housing 12, 50 defining a valve seat 22, with a valve member 24 movable into the out of engagement therewith, and a cylindrical perforate or mesh filter element 62 arranged downstream of the valve. As shown seat 22 is formed in a spider 34 which has a ring part screwed into the housing at 36 and arms 38 and 44 which respectively support a sleeve 40, in which slides valve guide stem 42, and a sleeve 46 in which screws valve-actuating shaft 28. Handle 60 rotates shaft 28 to move valve member 24 axially, and member 24 is rotatably secured to shaft 28 at 30, 32. Plug 70 may be removed to discharge accumulated solids from space 68, possibly aided by reverse flow or forward flow (with the valve open). With valve 22, 24 closed, housing end plate 52 and handle 60 may be removed to enable element 62 to be replaced. Instead of inlet and outlet 14, 16 being horizontally aligned as shown, the assembly could be oriented with inlet 14 vertically above outlet 16.
