Abstract
1466561 Separating sheets SHANDON SOUTHERN INSTRUMENTS Ltd 22 Feb 1974 [9 March 1973] 11547/73 Heading B8R Relatively rigid sheets, for instance microscope slides, are separated from the bottom of a pile held in a magazine 2 by a roller 10 rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis and positioned to at least partially support the pile, fixed stop means, e.g. the front wall 8 of the magazine, being adapted to restrain all the sheets but the lowermost and next sheets, and floating stop means, movable in a vertical direction, but not in the direction of sheet separation, e.g. part spherical stops 13 on spring fingers 14, being adapted to engage the leading edge of any sheet moving with the lowermost sheet to prevent double feed. A guide 6 guides the lower sheets of the pile forwards into engagement with a curved end portion (8a), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the wall 8. The side and back walls of the magazine can be tilted to facilitate pile renewal. The roller 10 has rubber tyres 11. A pile weight 9 is provided. Separated sheets are fed by belts 15 on flanged rollers 16.
