Abstract

1466485 Dry shavers; handles SPERRY RAND CORP 23 April 1975 [14 June 1974] 16840/75 Headings B4B and B4K A hand-held appliance, e.g. a dry shaver, comprises a casing 12 and a gripping pad assembly 10, which includes a resilient cushion 24 disposed on a backing member 22, means for mounting the pad on the casing, including at least one fastener 30 having tabs 36 which extend through an aperture 31 in the casing wall and rotated into locking engagement with the inner surface of the casing wall. The fastener 30 includes a cylindrical portion 34 and a flange 33 having recesses 44, Fig. 6, the fastener being mounted in a flexible metal plate 28 which is held between the cushion and the backing plate by means of a plastics cover member 26 having a peripheral portion secured to the backing member. The pad is mounted on the casing by first rotating the fastener so that the tabs 36 align with apertures 31 in the casing 12, then pressing the tabs through the aperture and rotating the fastener so that the tabs engage the inside wall of the casing. In this position the recesses 44 engage with locking detents 42 formed on the insert.
