Abstract

1466391 Numerical control OKUMA MACHINERY WORKS Ltd 12 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 10940/74 Heading G3N The data processing device of a numerical control system comprises a main memory 110, which may be read-only, or read-write, providing instruction words defining a program, and read/write file register 101 storing data to be operated on by the program together with addresses, file address register 102 containing the address of data to be read out from register 101. Under control of main memory 110 file index register 103 changes the address to be communicated to register 101, its content being processed in circuit 104. Data passed from register 101 is added to or substracted from, unit 105, data contained in register 106, the latter storing the calculated results. A result calculated and stored in register 106 may be given an address, and then stored in register 101. The data is processed as instructed by the program, program instruction words read out from memory 110 being stored in register 111, execution of the instructions being controlled by decoder-sequence control 112. Counter 109 normally controls memory 110 so that instructions are provided in address sequence, and provides control so that interruption and passage to and from a sub-routine is possible, stack 113 storing the address at which return to the program is to be made. Alternatively a read-write memory 110 may store the return address. The address stored in counter 109 is changed by circuit 108.
