Abstract

1466259 Automatic circuit-breakers DORMAN SMITH SWITCHGEAR Ltd 5 Sept 1974 [4 Oct 1973] 46292/73 Heading H1N In a circuit breaker having a spring loaded pivoted armature 13 which, when short circuit current flows in a conductor 50 passing through a magnetic circuit 15, pivots from a rest position to deflect a trip bar 10 via a pull rod 16 and thus trip the circuit breaker, the load applied by the loading spring 22 is adjusted without moving the armature from its rest position by means of an eccentric circular boss 27 rotatable manually by a knob 37 accessible from outside the circuit breaker. The eccentric boss 27 is carried in a recess in the knob 34, Fig. 4, and bears on a lug 28 of a lever 25 intermediate the boss and the loading spring 22. The boss itself is adjustable by sliding it relative to a bush 38 in the knob which projects through an aperture in the boss, relative movement between knob and boss being limited by grooves and ribs 39. The knob and boss are fixed together by a bolt 42.
