1,190,430. Switch contacts; heavy current switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 14 Nov., 1967 [21 Nov., 1966], No. 51752/67. Heading H1N. A current-carrying contact arm pivot assembly 21 for a multipole automatic electric circuit-breaker, Fig. 1 (not shown), includes a conductive support 22 providing pairs of projections 23 defining slots 24 Fig. 6 (not shown), in which one pivotally supported elongated moving contact arms 25 bearing movable main contacts 26, dished washers 30 pressing arms 25 against the projections 23 of support 22 to prevent arcing, during contact opening, between the contact arms 25 and the conductive pivotpin 31 which provide the current path between the arms 25 and the support 22. Contact springs 40 constantly bias contact arms 25 and an arcing contact arm 34 from a U-shaped bracket 37 to provide contact pressure upon closure of main contacts 26, 18, and arcing contacts 36, 17. A pivot-pin 42 passes through an enlarged hole 44 in contact arm 34 and supports the lower links 45 of a toggle link mechanism 46, Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), with overcentre snapaction springs 48.
