Abstract
146,613. Arimitsu, T. April 10, 1919. Spherical and plane trigonometry calculators for use, for example, in nautical astronomy, consist of a quadrant comprising a graduated arc a and two arms b, c at right-angles, a bar d adapted to slide on the surface and to pivot about the centre l of the arc, and a, pointer f mounted at right-angles to and adapted to slide along the bar d. The arm c is fitted with a sliding scale k in order to ascertain the distance between the centre of the are and a point j which serves as a base length when performing calculations. The Specification describes the method of solving, with the apparatus, a spherical triangle so as to obtain an angle from one of the remaining angles and the sides opposite both, for which purpose the triangle is assumed to be divided by means of a perpendicular into two triangles, and the calculation proceeds in two stages, one for each rightanglecl triangle.
