Abstract

1466104 Washing machines PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN NV 15 Feb 1974 [19 Feb 1973] 6965/74 Heading D1A The door 9 of the tub of a top-loading horizontal axis washing machine is provided with a deflector 11 or 25 with a surface 12/14 or 26 facing the drum which defines with the drum a converging passage in the direction of rotation of the drum 2 during spin drying. It has the effect of causing a suction in a passage 22 between the trailing edge of the deflector and the adjacent wall 19 of the loading funnel which draws any liquid from between the unsealed lid 9 and its frame 8. The deflector may have a ridge 17 of varying height on three sides of a flat portion 12 which is hinged at 10 or may be as shown in 3a with apertures 28 for liquid which passes within the unsealed edges 27 of the deflector.
