Abstract
1465978 Drilling and threading unit LECHLER APPARATEBAU KG 28 Feb 1974 [23 March 1973] 9054/74 Headings B3C and B3N A drilling or threading unit comprises a casing 10 a spindle 12 a feed for the spindle, an electro-motive spindle drive, a reduction gear 16 and an adjustable torque slip clutch 42-45. Drive from an electric motor to the reduction gear is by toothed belt 51. The reduction gear consists of a sun gear 31 fixedly connected to spindle 12, a second sun wheel 32 normally stationary and planet wheels 33, 34, all of which are mounted in a planet web comprised by members 35, 36. The clutch is a friction disc 42 in engagement with a pressure plate 44 fast with sun wheel 32 and a pressure disc 45. The pressure of disc 45 on disc 42 is adjusted by means of screwing sleeve 50 which acts through cup spring 48 on disc 45. In operation of the embodiment of Fig. 3 when an excessive torque on a drill is felt the clutch disc rotates allowing rotation of sun gear 32 and thus stops rotation of spindle 12. The operation of the threading unit of Fig. 4 is very similar except that the feed of spindle 12 during cutting is by means of nut 52 which is internally threaded and leader 65 which is attached to the spindle and has an external thread in engagement with the nut. Adjustment of the loading on the torque clutch is by rods 61 and screw plug 63.
