Abstract

1465545 Dish washing machines EUROPE Mfg TRUST REG 6 Feb 1974 [16 Feb 1973] 05516/74 Heading A4F [Also in Division B8] A device for metering and dispensing liquid and intended to be fitted in the door P of a dishwashing machine, has a storage tank 1 for liquid, a metering chamber 11, 15 arranged for receiving liquid from the tank when the device is in a metering position, an outlet passage 29 which when the device is turned from the metering position to a dispensing position lies below the metering chamber, and which leads to an external opening 2 of the device, an aperture 18 through which a metered quantity of liquid can flow from the chamber to the passage 29 and hence out of the device when in the dispensing position, and valve means operable to open and close the aperture 18. As described the device is incorporated in the door P of a dish washing machine pivotable about a horizontal axis, and contains liquid detergent. Plungers 21 are provided in the measuring chambers 11, 15 and are inter-connected by a bar 20 carrying a pin 23 engaged in a helical groove 24 in a tube 25 having a split 26 and engaged around the end of the passage 29. In operation the door is opened to a horizontal position and a stopper 3 removed from the passage 29. A screw driver is then inserted in a slot 30 in the tube 25 to rotate it, so moving the plungers 21 and varying the volume of the measuring chambers. Liquid is then poured into the tank via the passage 29 slot 30 and split 26, and the stopper is replaced. With the door horizontal liquid flows into the chambers 11, 15 via slits 16. When the door is moved to the vertical position shown, liquid flows from the chambers 11, 15 via slits 17, apertures 18, and passage 29 into the machine. The closure means 19 for the aperture 18 is moved to open this aperture as the door closes.
