Abstract
1465441 Cleaning LIPE ROLLWAY CORP 7 April 1975 [12 April 1974] 14154/75 Heading F2N [Also in Divisions A4 B8 and F4] A vibratory washer 15, Figs. 2, 4, comprises a feed element 20 having an upper surface bearing a pile material having resilient resin bristles 22 inclined from the vertical towards a direction of feed along the feed element 20 and driven by vibrator 21. Spray nozzles 18 inside a hood 17 direct a liquid washing spray against objects 16, groove 30, with side grooves 31, in the pile material leads towards a through drain opening 29 near the output end of the feed element 20 with a drain pan 23 underneath for the washing liquid and material washed from the objects 16. A guide 27 at the output end of the washer 15 diverts the objects 16 to a dryer 35, short objects 16 pass under the guide 27 to a waste bin 28. Fig. 7 shows how pile elements 52, 53 may engage the sides and top of the objects 16 and help scrub and clean the objects 16 as they pass through the washer 15. Fig. 9 shows a vibrated feed element 54 of semicylindrical section lined with a pile 55 for feeding cylindrical objects 56. The pile material 55 is preferably laid in a helical path so that the bristles are inclined to the axis of the feed element 54 thus acting to cause the objects 56 to roll on their axes as they advance along the feed element 54. The dryer 35 has a feed element (36), Fig. 5 (not shown), covered with a pile material (37) similar to that of the feed element 20 and is similarly vibrated. A heater (44) and fans (45) are provided to blow warm air over the objects 16 to be dried. The washer and dryer described above may be used in a process illustrated in Fig. 1 (not shown), for the manufacture of ceramic fillers for catalytic cartridges for automotive exhaust systems.
