Vacuum tubes; low-pressure metallic-vapour apparatus.-A perforated electrode, 21 is interposed between a filament and an anode, but is not connected externally. Mercury vapour and an oxide of an alkaline metal, such as calcium oxide, may be introduced into the bulb. A mercury cathode may be used instead of the filament.
