Abstract

1465018 Saw blades FAGERSTA AB 23 Sept 1975 39048/75 Heading B5L [Also in Divisions B3 and C7] In a metal strip, e.g. a hack or band saw blade, comprising a carrier strip having welded thereto, as by electron beam, at least one strip, e.g. sawtoothed, of a high speed steel alloy including at least Fe, 0À6-1À30 C per cent, 3À0-5À0% Cr, 1À0-10% Mo, 1À0-20% W, 0À5-4À0% V and up to 12% Co, said high speed steel alloy also includes 0À005-0À5% Ce so as to permit increased welding speed by improving melt flow. The Ce may be in misch metal. Disclosed high speed steel alloys comprise, in addition to Fe and Ce, 0À90% C, 0À35% Si, 0À32% Mn, 4À0% Cr, 0À05% Ni, 5À0% Mo, 6À2% W, 2À0% V, 0À025% P, 0À027% S. A disclosed carrier strip comprises 0À45% C, 4À2% Cr, 0À85% Mo, 0À15% V, balance Fe and impurities. The welded-up strip may be annealed, rolled, straightened and tempered.
