Abstract

1464871 Mine roof supports DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd 2 May 1974 [24 April 1973] 19223/73 Heading E1P In a mine roof support comprising a floor beam, a roof beam and a plurality of hydraulic jacks therebetween a valve unit is mounted on the underside of the roof beam to only pivot about axles 8, 9 whereby forces exerted by manual operation of the valve means produce little or no turning moment of the valve unit about the pivot axis. The axle 8 bears in a V-shaped bracket 6 and the pivot axle 9 is received in a member 22 secured to the underside of a bracket 7 the arrangement being that the valve unit is capable of angular movement relative to the roof beam about an axis parallel to the direction of advance of the support.
